Course Overview

The Early Childhood Montessori Assistants Certificate course prepares you to work as an Assistant Teacher with children from 2.5 to 6 years of age in a Montessori school, Daycare or Child-Centered classroom.

The Early Childhood Montessori Assistants Certificate course is based on the fundamentals of Dr. Maria Montessori’s and Dr. Silvana Montanaro’s philosophy and methodology. Upon graduation of this Certification Course, you will be provided opportunities and the necessary skills, knowledge and practical hands-on experiences to pursue a career as a caring, skilled and qualified Montessori Early Childhood classroom assistant teacher.

This certification course will provide you with a general understanding of child development within the context of the Montessori approach.

The Early Childhood Montessori Assistants Certificate Course is designed to ensure that you also gain an understanding of Dr. Montessori’s concepts of the:

  • Child’s Sensitive Periods

Course Details

The Early Childhood Montessori Assistants Certificate consists of seven modules and video presentations. It is flexible in that you can work at your own pace and on your own schedule. You will be assigned a tutor who will guide you through the course. Upon successful completion, you will be offered a Early Childhood Montessori Assistants’ Certificate.

This course is a 3 credit course (5o hours) and is considered an Early Childhood Montessori Educator Level 1 Course.

  • learn that the Montessori assistant supports the child’s learning in a special Early Childhood prepared environment
  • gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of the Montessori philosophy

  • learn to develop a deep respect for the abilities of each child
  • gain an understanding of the role of the Early Childhood Montessori assistant
