Langley, British Columbia will be home to Canada’s first Dementia village, which is set to open its doors in July 2019. The seniors living complex is the brainchild of Elroy Jespersen who developed the idea after being inspired by similar alternative approaches. The design stems from ideas of community living adopted by the Dutch housing project ‘Hogewyk’, the world’s first ‘Dementia Village’, and the American model ‘The Greenhouse Project’.

‘The Village’ ( consists of six cabins, a community centre, grocery store, cafe, spa, hair salon, art studio and activity centre surrounded by a secured perimeter.
