Toronto Project Aims to Dramatically Change Long Term Care

The city of Toronto has unveiled a 12-month pilot project that aims to revamp the future of long term care. The recommendation is to have more staff that would allow for a new approach to care focusing on engagement, friendship and purpose. The proposed plan would see staff making the move away from their current job focus of schedules and tasks to a role of providing better quality of life care for residents of long term care homes.

The proposal will take into consideration alternative programs such as the Montessori Method, The Butterfly Model, the Green House Project and Eden Alternative in the development of a toronto-created approach.
