Caring for People with Dementia During a Pandemic

Dr. Maria Chung, UBC professor and physician says the main problems with caring for people with COVID-19 who also have significant dementia is that you cannot reason with them or correct their behaviour — so getting them to follow public health advice like physical distancing and sanitizing measures becomes very challenging.

Dr. Chung talks to CBC radio about the difficulties COVID units in long term care are facing with people living with dementia.
