Program Overview

The Early Childhood Montessori Diploma Program prepares the aspiring teacher to work with children from 2.5 to 6 years of age in a Montessori environment or Child-Centered Classroom.

The Early Childhood Montessori Diploma Program is based on the fundamental Montessori philosophy and methodology. This Diploma program will provide in-depth knowledge of the contemporary approach to Early Childhood Development within the framework of the Montessori philosophy. You will acquire the necessary opportunities, skills and practical hands-on experiences to pursue a career as a, skilled, caring, and qualified Directress.

Program Details

The Montessori Teacher’s College Early Childhood Diploma Program is comprised of detailed theory lectures on Dr. Maria Montessori’s guiding principles of observing and following the child. Materials used by children 2.5 to 6 years of age in Practical life, Sensorial, Language, Arithmetic, Culture, Music and Creativity will be presented and discussed in a prepared environment. 

The Internship/Placement is one of the most valuable learning experiences you will undergo, and this will include supervised practice with Montessori materials and simulated teaching in a Montessori prepared environment. Working with children and being guided and mentored by experienced teachers provides you a wide range of real-life learning scenarios. You will gain knowledge on how to observe, facilitate and support children in their developmental growth in a classroom environment. Your internship/placement will provide the practical experiences to apply your Montessori academic knowledge while developing your classroom. Graduating from this program will provide you a MACTE accredited Early Childhood Montessori Diploma.

The Early Childhood Diploma Program requires completion of  400 hours of practicum.

  • to apply your experience, skills and knowledge in an Early Childhood classroom
  • to apply your knowledge and skills with your own child
  • to be a prepared Montessori teacher (guide directress) in any Early Childhood class in the world

  • Early Childhood or Casa Montessori Teacher, Early Childcare Teacher, Primary classroom teacher, Early years administrator, ability to open your own Early Childhood home school

Accreditations

This program is accredited by MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education) and by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities Ontario.

Admission Process:

Admission Requirements

Applicants must:

be 18 years of age or older

have completed a high school diploma or equivalent

successfully pass the English Language Assessment (part of the Application Form)

The admission process is as follows:

Step 1: Submit Application

Application Fee (currently waived!)

Montessori Teachers College will contact you for an interview

Step 2:

Upon acceptance into the program, you will need to submit the following:

Deposit of $590 (MACTE Fee of $215, and Exam Fee of $375)

Step 3: 

Prior to your Program start date, you will need to submit the following:

Transcripts from your most recent education

Vulnerable Sector Check (must be current i.e. within past 3 months)

Evidence of Immunization

Course Dates: May 30, 2021 to February 2022 (10 months)*

Class will take place on Saturdays, starting at 9:00am until 4:30pm

Time off: 3 weeks (to be determined)*

Option to purchase textbooks through the College: $100

Schedule of Tuition Payments:

3 Options for Tuition Payments

10 equal payments of $619.50 (1st of every month)

Pay Tuition of $6,070 upon acceptance (Save $125)

Pay in 4 equal instalments of $1,523.75 (Save $100) (January 1, April 1, July 1, October 1)
